Notes for Thomas Mitchell RAUTON
I have an interesting genealogy story related to Tommy
Rauton.
My Mom and I (Billie Jones and Lillian Coursey Smith) were
on one of our genealogy trips that we took, at the
beginning of our search. We really didn't know what we
were doing, or in many cases who we were looking for. But
we rode to Johnston, because my Mom knew that her Dad was
born there. We were cemetery hopping and we were looking
for a cemetery and were lost. We saw two police cars
sitting off the side of the road, with two policemen
talking. So we figured they would know the area. When we
pulled up and asked about the location of the cemetery, one
of the men asked who we were looking for. My Mom said
Rautons. He replies " I am a Rauton, and we must be kin
because you pronounced it right." So after talking, it
turns out that his grandfather Charles Marion Rauton and my
Mom's grandmother Hulda Eva Rauton were brother and sister.
It's a Small World!!
